ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

The Margate School is committed to providing an accessible venue and comfortable environment.

The festival events will take place on the ground floor of The Margate School. The old Woolworths building on Margate High Street. See Map. The ground floor of the building is on one level, with no steps or changes in levels.

Access into the building

We are currently making significant improvements to the building and scaffolding will be in place at the front of the building during the festival. This scaffolding will not prevent access into the building and there will be no noise as a result of the building works during the festival week.

The School has wheelchair access at the front of the building, which will be signposted. However,  due current remedial works scaffolding has been erected around the building including the entrance areas which may restrict accessibility for those with larger wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Therefore please contact us beforehand so we can assist with access. If you require assistance on the day, please call 07743 893726.

Access within the building

We have gender neutral toilets, including a wheelchair accessible toilet.

The auditorium where festival talks will take place is sound-treated and has dimmed ambient lighting. The majority of the seats are hard, but we will have a number of padded, larger seats available in the auditorium at all talks. We can provide a BSL interpreter by request in advance.

We currently don’t have a Hearing Loop in place in the auditorium.

The Margate School is a dog friendly space.

Getting to the School

Market Street Car Park is the closest to the school, which offers paid parking and 2 disabled parking bays. There is also paid parking in Morrisons car park not far from the School and not much further there is a paid car park in Trinity Square. You can find free parking in Cliftonville, a 10-20 mins walk away.

Please contact us if you have any questions about accessibility, or to request a BSL interpreter for a festival event. [email protected]
