FESTIVAL VENUES
Margate Festival of Design and The Margate School are committed to promoting and supporting the businesses and spaces which operate in Margate High Street – a place which has seen decline over a number of years. It is an ambition of the School to be central in the rejuvenation of the High Street. The invention of a Festival which is centred in this street can contribute to bringing more footfall to this area of the Town and we aim to work with our neighbours to provide opportunities for High Street businesses to get involved in the Festival each year. This year the following High Street businesses are venues for Festival activities:
THE MARGATE SCHOOL
We are an independent not-for-profit postgraduate liberal arts school. Situated in a former Woolworths Building that had stood empty since 2008, The Margate School by its very nature has become a new hub for innovation and creativity.
INSTITUTE STUDIOS
The studio houses a hireable 50m2 main space and basement recording studio. Institute Studios is also a professional vocal studio and home to several choirs including the Social Singing Choir, Margate Children’s Choir and Institute Collective Studio Director Hughie works with major labels, theatre, TV & Film companies worldwide as a composer, arranger, songwriter, and vocal consultant. He also works with production companies on vocal technique and performance (Including The Voice UK).

WAVERLEY HOUSE
Waverley House is a seafront venue with food and beverage offerings across multiple levels with some of the most spectacular views of Margate Main Sands. We invite you to join us for all day dining, 7 days a week, serving our seasonal menu where quality of produce and honest humble cooking are the heartbeat of our restaurant.
